Invictus takes shared prosperity approach to corporate social responsibility

Invictus takes its corporate social responsibility in the areas it operates seriously and is committed to operating in a safe, ethical, and responsible manner.

Our approach to sustainability is driven by our purpose to build a better future by responsible oil and gas development.

We work closely with our in-country stakeholders and partners in government to achieve sustainable growth to meet the nation’s rapidly expanding energy needs.

Our shared prosperity approach with our shareholders, host governments and local communities strives to ensure that all our stakeholders benefit from finding, developing and producing natural resources.

In Zimbabwe, Invictus is providing equal assistance across the Mbire and Muzarabani districts in the country’s Mashonaland Central province — where the company is preparing to drill the Mukuyu prospect at its Cabora Bassa project.

This assistance has seen Invictus provide extra water storage tanks at clinics in the area and convert manual hand well pumps with solar pumps, improving water access.

This work is helping improve the everyday lives of locals, such as in one community where children would often carry out manual pumping duties, while mostly women would then carry the buckets to water their gardens.

Invictus has commenced work to upgrade the borehole in this community, with the installation of solar pumps and stands.

This provides the community the ability to draw water without having to physically pump it, while the borehole contains sufficient pressure to also provide water for cattle as well as irrigation for community vegetable gardens.

A successful discovery at Mukuyu could potentially be transformational for the region and would allow Invictus to further scale up its corporate responsibility program and build upon the work carried out to date.

The company is also committed to boosting employment in the region. During the seismic campaign in 2021, approximately 200 local jobs were created. This year the drilling campaign is expected to hire many local people with an ambitious plan to train many Zimbabweans in the new skills needed for this program.

Throughout its operations, Invictus aims to keep disturbance to the environment and local population as minimal as possible, while the company is also committed to working with community leaders to ensure local rights and customs are followed.
